How to Create New Strains and add the Strain Library/Strain Slider

Modified on Tue, 28 Jan at 4:43 PM

Using the Strains feature of the Page Builder is very helpful. There are several implementations available, including using strain sliders, a strain library, and having each strain on an individually-indexed page.

Creating a New Strain:

  • Log into WP Admin for your website

  • Once in the back-end of your website, navigate to 'Strains' on the menu on the left-hand side of your screen. You can hover over the text to display a secondary menu, where you will click 'Add New Strain'

Once you're in the strain builder, you will see different sections to add information.

  • You can write in strain information in the following sections of the page:

    • Title : Strain Name

    • Description : Strain Description

    • Gallery: You can include secondary images of the strain/product.

    • Cultivator : This will display under the strain name on the strain card- you can either include the cultivator, or use this space to write in the strain type.

    • Lineage : Not displayed on card, but hybrid strain information can be applied here.

    • THC/CBD : Numerical % value, shown on front of card

    • On the right hand side of the page, you have the ability to. make more selections:

    • Effects : Select from list of effects or add new

    • Strain Type : Select from list of strain types or create a new one

    • Terpenes: Select from list of terpenes or add new

    • Featured Image: This is where you will include the main image of the strain/product- it will display on the front of the strain card, as well as the individual strain page.

      • NOTE: Featured image for strains should be 1:1.

  • After you have filled out all of the desired information, you can scroll back to the top of the page to hit the blue "Publish" button in the top right corner.

The Strains feature of page builder will automatically pull all new strains into the 'Strain Library' module; if you have not set up a strains page, please continue to the next step.

Creating a Strains Page:

  • Log into WP Admin for your website

  • On the left hand side menu, hover over the 'Pages' tab to reveal a secondary menu; click 'Add New Page'

  • Add 'Strains' as the page title.

  • In the Page Builder section, click the 'add module button'

  • Scroll to the bottom of the modules grid, the last option will be 'Strains Grid'. Select it.

  • Once you've added the 'Strains Grid' module, there is nothing else you need to plug in. This module auto-pulls every published strain from the back-end.

  • To change the background or text color, click the Gears Icon in the top right corner of the module to access the design settings.

    • NOTE: Strain cards are white- to distinguish from the background, you should change the 'Background Color'.

    • NOTE: The 'Text Color' is responsive to not only the title of the module, but the text on the Strain Cards as well.

  • Once complete, navigate back to the top right corner of the page, click the blue 'Publish' button

Adding a Strains Slider

  • Log into WP Admin for your website

  • Once in the back-end of your website, click 'Pages' on the menu on the left-hand side of your screen; this will bring you to the list of all pages on your site.

  • Select the page you would like to add the strains module to.

  • Once in the desired page, scroll to the bottom of the 'Page Builder' section and click the 'Add Module' button. Select the 'Strains Slider' module.

  • Once this module is added, you will have the option to add a title, additional text and select which strains to be in the slider.

  • In the 'Strains' section of this module, start typing in the name of the strain you would like to add. You will then be prompted to select one of the strains you have published in the back-end.

  • To reorder strains, simply click on the title to drag and drop.

  • To make changes to the modules appearance, follow the same guides as the 'Strain Grid' module:

    • To edit the background or text color, click the Gears Icon in the top right corner of the module to access the design settings.

      • NOTE: Strain cards are white- to distinguish from the background, you should change the 'Background Color'.

      • NOTE: The 'Text Color' is responsive to not only the title of the module, but the text on the Strain Cards as well.

  • To reorder where this module is on the page, click on the title of the module and drag/drop to reorder.

  • Once complete, navigate to the top right corner of page and click the blue 'Update' button.
